On Mission: Conversations that Matter
Verse of the week:
My son, keep your father's commandment,
and forsake not your mother's teaching.
Bind them on your heart always;
tie them around your neck.
When you walk, they[a] will lead you;
when you lie down, they will watch over you;
and when you awake, they will talk with you.
- Proverbs 6:20-22
Quick Thought:
In Proverbs 6:20-22 Solomon is appealing to his son. He is asking him to pay attention to what he's been taught and commanded by his parents. It's a letter to a child, yet it's such an important lesson of intentionality for parents. Let’s be real—intentionality feels like it’s getting lost in today’s fast-paced, instant-everything world. We’re used to pop-tart solutions—quick, easy, and done in a minute. But raising kids to know and follow Jesus takes more than that. It takes time, purpose, and a heart that’s willing to invest. It takes intentionality.
Here is my shameless plug to everyone with kids: We’re kicking off something that I think will be really helpful for families called Real Life Theology Conversations. Yeah, the name’s a bit of a mouthful—but at its core, it’s simply a way for parents and grandparents to have meaningful, faith-filled conversations with their kids and grandkids.
